The final two pictures from the series.

A lot of people who collect fine pipes keep them cleaned, polished and kept on a rack for display.  Part of Marks collection of pipes sits like this much of the time.   Of course, he is a turn away from all he needs to make them look pristine again.   Many of these are very nice pipes collecting a layer of briar dust.  When we head out to fish he looks down and sorts thru them a little, knows each maker and when and where he got it.   Most of them have a patina of Mac Baren Navy flake inside.  After a quick run through the last couple wheels in the polishing line the pipe is looking good again and is river ready.   The one criteria for finding a good river pipe is finding one you wouldn’t mind (too badly) losing down the river while trying to multitask a pipe and a fish.
